One of the five highways of the Edo period, it is called Kisoji because it passes through Kiso on its way between Edo and Kyoto.

The stone pavements of the inn towns that remain today are reminiscent of the old streets of Edo and remind us of the lifestyle of the common people in the past.

The entire route was approximately 530 km with 69 post towns. Unlike the Tokaido Highway, there are no rivers along the route, so the route was frequently used during the Edo period (1603-1867).

The Kiso Road evokes nostalgic memories of the past and reminds us of our original life force, which has adapted to nature since the primitive times.
