馬籠宿 Magome-juku
Area Overview
Magomejuku is the 43rd inn counting from Edo. It is a very popular destination for tourists visiting Japan. Going north from here is Tsumagojuku, the 42nd inn. Magomejuku was built along a mountain ridge road at an elevation of about 650 m. Only some of the paving stones remain from when the inn was built. The surrounding mountains remind one of Japan as a forested country. Visitors can enjoy local delicacies, especially gohei-mochi (rice cakes), oyaki, and soba (buckwheat noodles).
